Our Story

Meet Clare

I grew up between the sandy beaches of Perth, Western Australia and the tropical rainforests and Great Barrier Reef in Far North Queensland. This engrained in me a deep appreciation and wonder of our natural world.

Habitat grew from an innate desire to help reset the balance we have with our natural surrounds. Understanding the devastating impact excessive plastic consumption is having on our natural environment and us was my turning point.

This is just the beginning of what I hope is a long journey for Habitat. Thank you for your support and I look forward to what other innovative solutions we can create in the future!

Why We Exist

Australians use an average of 130kg’s of plastic a year, of which only 9% is recycled. Leaving more than 3 million tones in landfill, oceans and waterways.

Why We Exist

Plastics contain harmful toxins and chemicals which don’t breakdown, they break up into micro plastics. It’s estimated we consume about a credit card's worth of plastic each year.

Why We Exist

Traditional hand soaps have a high ‘carbon body’ as they are often packaged in petroleum based plastic.

Why We Exist

Traditional hand soaps can be up to 90% water, increasing CO2 emissions attributed to the transport of bulky items.

What We Do

Our soap tablet concentrate and reusable dispenser are helping to reduce plastic entering landfill, our waterways and our bodies.

We consider the whole product life-cycle including sustainable materials, ethical manufacturing, functionality and end of life for each aspect of the product.

Our packaging uses vegetable ink, so all packaging is recyclable, home compostable and biodegradable.

We reduce CO2 emissions associated with transport of traditional soaps which can contain up to 90% water.

We Support

We are proud supporters of Leonid and Valentina Stayanov from The Vet Crew. They are a family that has devoted their entire lives to the preservation and rescue of animals and the wild world!

Leonid and Valentina are Ukrainian and continue to do their work amidst the devastating war currently impacting millions across their country. Before the war Leonid and Valentina documented their work providing veterinary aid to some of the rarest wild animals across the globe.

Today they continue their work running an animal hospital and rescue shelter in southern Ukraine. Habitat is a proud supporter of Vet Crew providing a monthly donation which goes directly to them to support their work.
